Stephen Belafonte is an American producer cum director who is known for his marriage to Mel B before the couple decided to divorce in 2017.

Stephen Belafonte was married to the spice girl Mel B for 10 years. They had met on the set of the film called Talk. They began dating in February 2007. They had a whirlwind romance after which on 6 June 2007 they got married in Las Vegas. The exact locale of the wedding is not known but a year later the couple renewed their vows in front of family and friends in the country of Egypt.

The couple had a daughter named Madison who was born on 1 September 2011.

But soon something went wrong in their marriage and in 2014 when Mel B appeared on the X Factor UK’s live Sunday Show she had bruises and scratches on her face and arms. Stephen was accused of having beaten her. It later came to be known that few days before this episode, she was rushed to the hospital for a similar reason and she was forced due to it to miss her live Saturday show of X Factor.

Before marrying Mel B, Stephen was in a relationship with model Nicole Contreras and the couple has a daughter named Giselle who was born in 2004. He used to beat Nicole in a drunken state. Prior to this relationship, Mel B was married to Nancy Carmell from 1997 to 1999. Mel B had paid for the legal fees of Stephen and also paid him the emergency spousal amount for some months. The German nanny Lorraine Giles lost her employment pass after she was sacked by Mel B in September 2017. She had applied and obtained a restraining order against Stephen and Stephen was prohibited from carrying a gun. Stephen said that this all was a smear campaign against him. He denied having made the nanny pregnant. She had to pay him 270000 pounds.

Stephen Belafonte was born in Hollywood in California. He is 43 years of age now but his exact date of birth is unavailable. His parents are Thomas and Sheryl Stansbury. He has six siblings and when Stephen was 12, he and his mother and siblings moved to Point Pleasant, New Jersey. At the age of 18, Stephen returned to Los Angeles.

Stephen was a student at the Loyola Marymount University and after his graduation, he entered the entertainment industry.
