American author Stephen King is particularly active in the genres of horror, suspense, fantasy, and supernatural fiction. King is frequently referred to as the “King of Horror”. He has been successful in penning more than 350 million copies of his more than 60 books.

Stephen King| Early Life & Family

On September 21, 1947, in Portland, Maine, Stephen Edwin King was born. Nellie Ruth (Pillsbury) is Stephen’s mother and Donald Edwin King is his father.

When Stephen was two years old, his father abandoned the family, leaving his mother to look after him and his older brother, David.

The boys saw little of their mother because she worked many menial jobs to support her kids.

Moreover, when King was a child, he discovered a box of fantasy-horror stories and books that had once belonged to his father and devoured them all.

Also, King started creating his own stories by the time he was seven years old.

Stephen King| Education

Stephen graduated from Lisbon Falls High School in 1966 after attending Durham Grammar School. He began writing a weekly column for THE MAINE CAMPUS, the school newspaper, in his sophomore year at the University of Maine at Orono.

As a member of the Student Senate, King was also involved in student politics. His decision to assist the anti-war movement on the Orono campus stemmed from his conservative belief that the Vietnam War violated the Constitution.

Stephen earned a B.A. in English and was certified to teach high school English when he left the University of Maine at Orono in 1970.

Stephen King| Novels

King’s debut book, Carrie, about a tortured teen who exacts retribution on her peers, was published in 1973 and became a bestseller.

Later, Sissy Spacek played the title role in an adaptation for the big screen. The Shining (1977), Salem’s Lot (1975), Firestarter (1980), Cujo (1981), and IT (1986) were among the next widely read books.

King worried that readers wouldn’t accept more than one book from an author within a year, so four early books — Rage (1977), The Long Walk (1979), Roadwork (1981), and The Running Man (1982) — were released under the name.

The alias was created due to what he heard playing on his record player at the time, “You Ain’t Seen Nothin’ Yet,” by Bachman Turner Overdrive, and a novel by Richard Stark, who was Donald Westlake under a pseudonym.

Stephen King| Professional Career

King keeps coming up with provocative projects and working on them. He has written for television shows like Under the Dome and Kingdom Hospital, the latter of which is based on his 2009 novel.

King released the novel 11/22/63, which uses time travel to attempt to avert President John F. Kennedy’s murder, in 2011.

Joyland (2013), a thriller written in the pulp-fiction style by King, leads readers on a quest to find out who committed an unsolved murder.

Then, as a surprise to the public, he published Doctor Sleep (2013), a prequel to The Shining, which debuted at No. 1 as a bestseller.

Following the release of Mr. Mercedes (2014), the author went on to publish Finders Keepers (2015) and End of Watch (2016), completing the crime trilogy.

Moreover, King co-authored Sleeping Beauties, a book about a mysterious virus that causes women to become cocooned, in 2017 with his son Owen.

The novella Gwendy’s Button Box, which he co-wrote with Richard Chizmar, was the second project he completed that year.

Mr. Mercedes’ first season premiered on the Audience Network in 2017, and the IT remake made a sizable amount of money at the box office.

2019 saw the release of adaptations of Doctor Sleep, IT Chapter 2, and Pet Sematary, another work by Stephen King.

Stephen King| Personal Life

King and his literary spouse share their time between Maine and Florida.

Stephen and Tabitha King have three kids: Naomi Rachel, a minister; Joseph Hillstrom, a renowned author of horror fiction who goes by the pen name Joe Hill; and Owen Phillip, whose debut book of short tales was released in 2005.

Furthermore, King was among those who received the National Medal of Arts in 2015 in recognition of his prolific productivity and professional accomplishment.

Stephen King| Net Worth and Salary

Moreover, this book launched King’s successful career as an author. It revolutionized the horror genre and quickly became a beloved read.

At the time “Carrie” was published, King received a $2,500 advance payment, which would be equivalent to about $15,000 in today’s money.

In contrast, the paperback rights to the book were sold for $400,000, which is equivalent to more than $2.3 million in today’s US dollars.

Stephen King| Age, Height & Weight

American writer, editor, publisher, and producer Stan Lee worked in the comic book industry. He worked his way up through the ranks of Timely Comics, a family-run company that would eventually become Marvel Comics.

Stan Lee | Early Life, Education, and Career

On December 28, 1922, Stan Lee was born in Manhattan, New York, to Romanian and Jewish parents. Jack Lieber, his father, was a garment cutter. Larry Lieber is Lee’s younger brother.

Lee attended DeWitt Clinton High School while he was a teenager.

Stan Lee | Career

Early Career and Comics

Lee’s arrival joining Timely Comics in 1939 turned out to be a significant career move. His comic book career began with the text filler “Captain America Foils the Traitor’s Revenge,” after which he transitioned to menial tasks.

He developed Father Time in Captain America Comics No. 6, the Destroyer in Mystic Comics No. 6, and Jack Frost in USA Comic No. 1.

Lee joined the company when he was just 19 years old and worked there for about 31 years, most of them as editor-in-chief, thanks to a struggle inside the organization and his rising creativity.

He enlisted in the American Army in 1942 and served in the Signal Corps domestically. He continued to write manuals, training videos, and slogans there, which is why the military referred to him as a “playwright.”

Following his time in the military, Lee returned to the business, then known as Atlas Comics, in the 1950s. He began experimenting by creating stories in a variety of genres, including romance, science fiction, horror, and humor.

In the same period, he and his colleague Dan DeCarlo created the newspaper strip “My Friend Irma,” which was mostly inspired by a radio comedy starring Marie Wilson. Lee’s dissatisfaction with his career was growing.

In order to compete with DC Comics, Lee’s publisher Goodman requested him to assemble a fresh group of superheroes in the latter half of 1950. Lee decided to focus on the stories he believed in because he was growing bored with his routine job.

Famous Marvel Superheroes

Together with his coworker Jack Kirby, Lee developed the “Fantastic Four,” a group of superheroes that included the “Hulk,” “Iron Man,” “Thor,” “Spider-Man,” “X-Men,” and “Doctor Strange” for this job.

He wrote, art-directed, and edited the majority of Marvel’s series during the 1960s while also moderating the letters pages. Additionally, he published a monthly essay called “Stan’s Soapbox.” Although Lee’s job was becoming increasingly demanding, he was finally having fun.

Lee had the idea to include a story on the negative effects of drugs in “The Amazing Spider-Man” after being asked to write one in 1971. The depiction of drugs violated the Comics Code Authority’s guidelines, thus they were opposed to it.

Nevertheless, Lee and Goodman published the narrative in their comics. Marvel was praised for spreading the responsible message when the story became extremely well-known. Negative portrayals of drugs are acceptable, and the CCA dissolved the Code.

He became busier and more well-known as the public face and symbolic leader of Marvel Comics starting in 1975. He spoke at colleges, participated in panel discussions, and went to comic book conventions all throughout America.

Lee’s position inside the organization was expanding as a result of his 1981 appointment to develop Marvel’s TV and film franchises, which required him to relocate to California with his family.

Lee was appointed the company’s president, although he felt the job to be a little too technical for him. He resigned to take the publisher position in order to stay closer to the company’s creative processes.

Moreover,

Stan Lee Media, a new Internet-based superhero conception, production, and marketing firm, was founded in 1998 by Lee and Peter Paul. The business expanded and experienced significant success, but it had to close down because of legal repercussions.

With Gill Champion and Arthur Lieberman, Lee founded “POW! (Purveyors of Wonder) Entertainment” in 2001 with the goal of developing properties for movies, television shows, and video games. Additionally, he introduced “Stan Lee’s Sunday Comics.”

When Lee reached the end of his 65 years with Marvel, the company honored him by publishing a number of one-shot comics in which Lee interacted with his co-creations, including “Spider-Man,” “Doctor Strange,” and other characters.

At the Comic-Con International in 2007, a Stan Lee action figure was unveiled in his honor. A slightly modified version of the Spider-Man figure’s body mold was used to create the action figure.

Stan Lee had a busy year in 2008, publishing “Stan Lee Presents Election Daze: What Are They Really Saying?,” working with Hiroyuki Takei on “Karakuridoji Ultimo,” producing the CGI television series “Legion of 5,” and more.

In 2010, Lee’s entertainment firm collaborated on The Guardian Project, a superhero mascot development project for the National Hockey League, alongside Guardian Media Entertainment. In addition, he declared that he was writing “The Yin and Yang Battle of Tao,” a live-action musical.

At the 2012 San Diego Comic-Con International, Lee revealed his new YouTube channel, “Stan Lee’s World of Heroes,” which will feature a variety of his original shows. Together with Stuart Moore, he co-wrote the book “Zodiac.” In 2015, the book was published.

Later,

On July 6, 2020, Genius Brands purchased from POW! Entertainment the exclusive rights to exploit Lee’s name, physical likeness, signature, and licensing rights to his name and original IPs. The assets will be housed under Stan Lee Universe, a new joint venture with POW!

Stan Lee | Net Worth

Stan Lee was an American comic book writer, actor, and entrepreneur who died in November 2018 with a net worth of $50 million.

Stan lived in a modest two-story home on a street that had become one of Los Angeles’ most sought-after addresses over time. At one point, Dr. Dre and Leonardo DiCaprio were among his neighbors. Further, when she went to see her first therapist, she tried to explain things and said that her mom did this because she cared for her. Well, explaining the thing, Jennette said,

“Immediately I went into, ‘well she did this, but it’s because she’s such a good mom, it’s because she wanted me to be successful, it’s because she wanted me to have a better [life].”

Also, she added,

“I was so defensive, I didn’t realize that I was at the time, but in retrospect, I see I was disclaiming every single thing that my mom did instead of just stating the reality or how I felt about it. I was more concerned with how to keep my mom looking good than I was with expressing my true emotional reality.”
