Witney Carson was diagnosed with melanoma, a form of skin cancer in the year 2014. She was just 19 years old when she had melanoma and she was about to transfer from her hometown to Los Angeles.

Witney Carson is an American professional Latin ballroom dancer and choreographer. Similarly, she became successful in becoming second runner-up in season nine of So You Think You Can Dance. However, her health became her enemy as she suffered from skin cancer in the year 2014. Witney’s dream was to become a pro dancer on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars.

For achieving the goals Carson headed to Los Angeles, California from her hometown, Utah. Further, Witney said,

“I finally got this call that was going to just skyrocket my career. It was my dream.”

Though, before one week she knew that she has melanoma and it’s gonna ruin her entire career. Similarly, Witney undergoes two surgeries to remove cancer. In the first season Carson was paired up with Cody Simpson and even also didn’t know this. Meanwhile, she didn’t tell anyone about her situation as she wanted to do the show so bad.

“I was supposed to be doing all the right things to be an athlete, and so it was embarrassing for me to be like, ‘Yes, I had, I was sick. I was literally sick.’ The producers didn’t know. My partner didn’t know. I wanted people to think I was perfectly healthy.”

Witney Carson removed her skin from around a mole on her foot. Not only her foot but also her lymph nodes in her left hip as the cancer was spreading very quickly. She also mentioned that she had no time for healing. And Witney says,

“I think I took six weeks and then I went straight to Dancing with the Stars. My foot was wrapped. I still had stitches in it.”

However, her passion for doing and winning the show still goes on top. Despite the injury, she continued the show. Talking about the situation, she stated,

“I walk in my first day of rehearsals; I’m just going full force. The doctor has not cleared me for any active anything. I just decided to do it anyway because how could I not? It’s my dream. So I go, I do the whole routine”.

“I’m like, ‘My foot feels so sweaty. I’m so sweaty. This is so weird,’ and I looked down and my white tennis shoe was just covered in blood, just covered in blood. Ripped my stitches open. I had to get my foot wrapped weekly after the live show.”
