The head coach at the University of Oklahoma is an American footballer named Thomas Brent Venables. Before this, from 2012 until 2021, he worked at Clemson University as the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach.

Brent Venables| Early Life and Family

In the United States, Homestead, Florida, is where Brent Venables was born on December 18, 1970. His mother Nancy Schumaker and father Ron Venables were both present at his birth.

Ken and Arthur Kirkpatrick Venables were his older brothers.
Ron Venables, his father, flew a fighter and had a job in the Air Force. Brent’s parents had to divorce when he was just two years old.

According to Brent, their split was caused by his father’s decision to end their marriage.

Hardships

Then, Brent’s mother began looking for employment. She has three young boys to take care of. Brent Venables, her youngest child, was just three at the time.

She decided to take on a few odd jobs to survive. Brent describes his mum as a woman who works extremely hard.

She is the one who instilled in Brent the value of morality, the necessity of diligence, and the value of constancy.

Brent didn’t enjoy a happy, prosperous childhood. Even though he wasn’t cognizant of it at the time, his mother endured suffering every day.

Nancy first refused to accept financial support from her parents, but she was forced to because she was responsible for three little boys.

Coaching Career

Venables coached the University of Oklahoma from 1999 to 2011. He served as linebackers coach, defensive coordinator, and associate head coach. The head trainer was Bob Stoops.

Venables and Stoops had collaborated before. At Kansas State, they had previously collaborated. Furthermore, Venables was brought to Oklahoma by Stoops.

From 1996 to 1998, Venables served as the linebackers’ coach. In 1998, he coordinated the defensive run game. From 1993 to 1995, he had previously worked as a graduate assistant.

Brent Venables was one of five contenders for the 2006 Broyles Award given to the best assistant coach in the country.

Venables later took a job at Clemson as the defensive coordinator. According to reports, his pay at Clemson was supposed to range from $750,000 to $1 million.

Venables reportedly received a staggering $1.7 million from Clemson. The only coach to receive more money was Dave Aranda from Louisiana State University. According to reports, he made $1.8 million annually.

There has been a portion of the fan base with the same reaction despite the return of veterans like James Skalski, Nolan Turner, Derion Kendrick, and Xavier Thomas:

“Who cares? The defense wasn’t good in 2020, and having those pieces back isn’t going to help them get any better.”

To start, it wouldn’t be fair to judge the defense just on the Ohio State game. On what he would do if the Buckeyes saw Clemson over, Ryan Day had undoubtedly been planning for months.

Despite this, we can still admit that a problem exists, but the solution is strange.

It’s undeniable that the Clemson football defense wasn’t quite as strong in 2020 as it had been in the previous, but giving up on Brent Venables seems foolish. The squad rejected the ruling as a result, and the aggressive fans soon changed their behavior.

Brent Venables| Net Worth and Salary

In the industry he works in, Venables is one of the highest earners. Despite everything he has been through, he has managed to maintain his composure and drive.

Every accomplishment that comes to this diligent man is well deserved. The estimated $2 million net worth of Brent Venables.

Brent Venables has agreed to a six-year deal with a $7.25 million average annual pay to lead the Oklahoma Sooners football program. He will start out with a salary of $7 million, and from then until the contract’s expiration on January 31, 2028, it will rise by $100,000 a year.

On top of that, he is also eligible for further incentives, such as $400,000 for national championship victories.

In addition, he will also get $600,000 per year in a supplemental retirement income plan from the institution, fully vested right away and paid on a monthly basis.

The disclosed agreement included a $400,000 prize for winning the national title, while other performance awards are probably included in the final agreement.

Relationship with Wife, Children & their Wedding

Brent Venables is a married man. He has been married to his sweetheart Julie and together, the duo looks amazing. The couple is blessed with four amazing children, two sons, and two daughters.

Tyler and Jake Venables are their two sons who are both Kansas players. Venables with his wife and children, he leads a respectable life.

Beer Bryant Early Life and Family

Beer Bryant was born Paul William “Bear” Bryant on September 11, 1913, in Moro Bottom, Arkansas. His mother’s name is Ida Kilgore Bryant while his Father’s name is Wilson Monroe.

Growing up, Bryant had a low-income family. His mother cared for the family while his father Wilson worked as a farmer for a living.

After his father developed a disease while he was still a kid, his mom was forced to run the farm for their livelihood. As his parents have 12 children, they had a big family.

Paul’s mother wished for him to enter the ministry. However, Bryant persuaded his mother by claiming that “coaching is a lot like preaching.”

Bryant began playing football at Fordyce High School when he was in the eighth grade. He played offensive line and defensive end during his senior year.

Moreover, he was also a part of the team that won the 1930 Arkansas state football championship.

Body Measurements

Beer Bryant was 6 feet 1 inch tall, according to his bodily measurements. After growing up, he stood at the height of 6 feet 4 inches tall.

Bryant was also 180 pounds when he was thirteen years old. His additional physical characteristics are unknown.

Bryant had brown hair and blue eyes. He also doesn’t have anybody carvings or tattoos.

Bryant, an American coach, was born in 1913. The start of World War I was a year ago today. Therefore, it is reasonable to conclude that Bryant experienced numerous trials and tragedies.

He was born in the year of the ox, as per the Chinese calendar. Oxen are used as farming tools in agrarian societies.

Bear Bryant: Personal Life

Bear Bryant, an American player, and the head coach was married secretly to Mary Harmon in June 1935. The couple together had two kids.

Mae Martin, the first child, was born nine months after the couple was married. Paul Bryant Jr., their second child, was also born in 1944.

Beer Bryant: Playing Career

In 1931, Beer Bryant got the award for a football scholarship from the University of Alabama. The American player also needed to enroll in a Tuscaloosa high school for the fall semester to continue his education.

Bryant dropped out of high school without receiving a diploma. The player who also played end for the Crimson Tide was a member of the Alabama squad that won the national championship in 1934.

Hudson later achieved success in the National Football League. He also got the honor of induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Bryant had the chance to join the Southeastern Conference’s second team in 1934. In 1933 and 1935, he was on the third team.

Additionally, Brooklyn Dodgers selected Bryant in the fourth round of the 1936 NFL Draft. Bryant didn’t play football professionally though.

Coaching Career

Assistant

But when  Frank Thomas gave him the offer from the University of Alabama for the position of assistant coach, he quit.

The team’s record over the next four years was 29-5-3. To serve as Sanders’ assistant, Bryant moved to Vanderbilt University in 1940.

In a similar vein, Paul got the title of head coach at the University of Arkansas after the 1941 season.

The most prominent incident took place when Bryant was away. At the time, Byrd invited a player back who Bryant punished for violating team rules.

During the 1945 campaign, the American player Bryant left Maryland to take the helm at Kentucky University.

Kentucky

Bryant served as the University of Kentucky’s head coach for eight years. In 1947, Kentucky played in its first-ever bowl game.

It also won the inaugural Southeastern Conference title in 1950. The only thing that made these accomplishments possible was Bryant’s leadership.

A victory over Bud Wilkinson’s top-ranked Oklahoma Sooners in the Sugar Bowl helped the 1950 Kentucky Wildcats football team conclude the season 11-1 overall.

However, Bryant resigned from his position after the 1953 election. Bryant believed that, despite leading Kentucky’s football team to its highest point, the school’s top sport would always be basketball under Adolph Rupp.

Texas A&M

Bryant began serving as Texas A&M University’s head coach in 1954. He was also Texas A&M’s athletic director.

Two years later, the American coach led the Texas A&M Aggies to the Southwest Conference title after defeating the Texas Longhorns 34-21 in Austin.

The following year, Bryant’s star running back John David Crow won the Heisman Trophy.

Until they lost to the #20 Rice Owls in Houston, they were in the running for the championship, much like the 1957 Aggies, who predicted Alabama would sign Bryant.

Alabama

Bear Bryant is most recognized for his time as Alabama’s head coach. As the head coach of Alabama for 25 years, Bryant.

Under his direction, the Alabama squad won six national championships in 1961, 1964, 1965, 1973, 1978, and 1979. They won thirteen SEC Championships as well.

Bear Bryant: Medical Condition

Throughout his life, Bryant smoked and drank excessively, which led to a decline in his health in the late 1970s.

Bryant sought alcohol therapy after falling due to a cardiac emergency in 1977. However, he only stayed there for a short time before returning to drinking.

The American coach also suffered a mild stroke in 1980 that left his left side of the body weak, as well as a second cardiac incident in 1981.

Furthermore, Bryant used a variety of medicines in his later years.

On a flight shortly before he passed away, he met the preacher Robert Schuller, with whom he had a lengthy conversation about religion that had an impression on the coach.

Bryant felt proud of himself for keeping his mother in the dark about his drinking and smoking habits.

Death

Bryant went to Druid City Hospital in Tuscaloosa on January 25, 1983, because he was experiencing chest trouble.

He had a major heart attack as he was getting ready for an ECG, and he passed away the next day.

Dr. William Hill, Bryant’s doctor, expressed surprise that Bryant had managed to lead Alabama to two national championships in his final five years of life despite his deteriorating health.

Bryant’s passing was originally reported by Bert Bank and the N.B.C. Radio Network.

Bear Bryant: Controversies

Racism

Paul was accused of racism during his time in Alabama for consistently turning down the chance to sign athletes of color.

Bryant asserted that the current social atmosphere and Alabama’s predominance by openly segregationist George Wallace were to blame for his failure to do so.

However, Bryant persuaded the administration to allow him to do it in the end. As a result of this recruitment, Wilbur Jackson became the first black athlete to receive a scholarship in Alabama.

He signed in the spring of 1970.

Defamation Suit

Bryant sued The Saturday Evening Post for publishing a story in which Furman Bisher alleged that He had incited his players to use violence in a 1961 game against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

Bryant lost the case, and The Saturday Evening Post was later sued by Bryant. He and Wally Butts were implicated in a six-month-later magazine story titled “The Story of a College Football Rig”. In which, they were accused of attempting to rig Alabama’s 1962 game in their favor.

Followingly, in a separate libel case, Wally sued Curtis Publishing Co.

In August 1963, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia rendered a judgment in Butts’ favor. In the end, Curtis Publishing Co. did submit an appeal to the Supreme Court.

In the case of Curtis Publishing Co. v. Butts, 388 U.S. 130, Curtis Publishing was required to pay Butts $3,060,000 in damages.

Because it outlines the requirements for holding a news organization accountable for defaming a “public person,” this case is significant.

In January 1964, Paul and Curtis Publishing came to a separate, $300,000 out-of-court settlement regarding his cases.

Bear Bryant: Awards and Achievements

Throughout his whole life, Bear Bryant garnered several honors and achievements. In Kentucky, he joined Omicron Delta Kappa in 1949.

In 1961, 1971, and 1973, Bryant earned three times as National Coach of the Year. The national coach of the year title was also changed to the Paul “Bear” Bryant Award in Bryant’s memory.

Alabama’s Denny Stadium was renamed Bryant-Denny Stadium in his honor in 1975.

Additionally, Sports Illustrated named Bryant the Head Coach of the NCAA Football All-Century Team.

Few people are probably aware that Bryant also received 1.5 votes during the contentious 1968 Democratic Convention for the party’s presidential nominee.

The achievements of the American icon don’t stop here.

Bear received the Golden Plate Award from the American Academy of Achievement in 1979. He received the Plate from Tom Landry, a member of the Awards council.

In February 1983, President Ronald Reagan also presented Bryant with the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Roger Hallmark, a country music performer, also recorded a song in Bryant’s honor. A poem dedicated to Bryant was also written by Charles Ghigna.

Bear Bryant: Net Worth

The American player and the head coach both had successful football careers. His substantial riches accumulated as a result of his numerous honors and outstanding success.

He was selected for the NBA 75th Anniversary Team in 2021 after being inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2020.

About Tim Duncan |  Family and Education

The U.S. Virgin Islands’ Saint Croix is where Tim Duncan was born. His father, William, was a bricklayer, and his mother, Ione, was a licensed professional midwife.

Cheryl, Tricia, and Scott were the two sisters and one brother of the youngest of four children.

Cheryl, a nurse, used to be a swimmer. Tricia competed in swimming for the U.S. Virgin Islands in the 1988 Summer Olympics. Both a director and a cinematographer, Scott.

A day before Tim turned 14 years old, their mother passed away from breast cancer, leaving the siblings to deal with their loss.

Tim completed his high school education at St. Dunstan’s Episcopal. Later, he pursued further education at Wake Forest University.

Swimming

Tim wanted to swim at the Olympic level like his sister back when he was in school. He excelled in the 50, 100, and 400 meters of the freestyle and was a swimming genius.

Unfortunately, the one Olympic-sized swimming pool there was damaged by Hurricane Hugo, therefore the hope of representing the country at the 1992 Olympics was dashed. In addition, he avoided swimming in the ocean due to his shark phobia.

His brother-in-law was now encouraging him to seek a basketball career. He felt uneasy at the moment because of his tall build. But during his time at school, he quickly overcomes that.

Career in College

In his debut season, Duncan helped the Demon Deacons to a 20-11 win-loss record at Wake Forest University.

Duncan was adamant that he would finish his studies regardless of the Los Angeles Lakers’ aspirations.

In the 1994–1995 and 1995–1996 seasons, the Deacons captured the Atlantic Coast Conference title.

Duncan won the ACC Defensive Player of the Year on two separate occasions and emerged as the most important player in both seasons’ campaigns.

The 1996–97 NCAA season saw the three-time NABC Defensive Player of the Year-end his senior year as the second ACC Player of the Season and third overall Defensive Player.

Duncan’s college career ended with a 97-31 win-loss record, making him the all-time top rebounding in NCAA history and the all-time leading shot-blocker in the ACC.

Professional Life and Career

The San Antonio Spurs selected Duncan in the first round of the 1997 NBA Draft. In the “Twin Towers,” he teamed together with David Robinson. Duncan was selected for the 1998 NBA All-Star Game by coaches after making a positive first impression.

In his rookie season, Duncan started each of the 82 regular-season contests. Everyone, including his coach and peers, praised his performance and toughness.

With an average of 21.7 points, 11.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 2.5 blocks in his second season, he once more earned the All-NBA and All-Defense First Teams.

The NBA Finals

In 1999, Duncan led the Spurs to their first-ever NBA title with a 4-1 victory against the Cinderella-story New York Knicks in the championship game.

He was the MVP of the championship game. Tim is with me; you are not. The distinction is that.

The Spurs had to leave the Championships, though, three seasons in a row.

They finally won it in Game 6 of the 2002–2003 season, falling to the New Jersey Nets 88–77. As the NBA Finals MVP, Duncan had a quadruple-double in the contest.

The Spurs’ Captain

Duncan took over as the team’s captain after Robinson stepped down ahead of the 2003–04 season. He assisted the group in getting to the Western Conference Semifinals when they were defeated by the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Spurs made it to the NBA playoffs the next year. Duncan was a key contributor to the loss in Game 7 against the Detroit Pistons with 25 points and 11 rebounds.

Similarly, Duncan won his third NBA Finals MVP award as a result of the victory, giving the Spurs their third NBA championship.

Duncan, however, missed the majority of the 2005–06 campaign because of plantar fasciitis. Because of this, he had a dismal season average of 18.6 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 2.0 blocks.

However, he made progress the following year and began the 2007 NBA All-Star Game. Additionally, he guided the group to its fourth NBA title with a convincing 4-0 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Finals. Duncan, on the other hand, was not named the Finals MVP.

Bad Games

Against the New Orleans Hornets in the 2008 playoffs, Duncan had one of his worst performances. The Spurs lost 101-82 despite their captain only having 5 points and 3 rebounds. Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Spurs to win the NBA title during the same season.

Even worse things happened for the Spurs in the 2008–09 campaign. As Duncan’s persistent knee tendinosis was discovered, his performance suffered. As a result, the Spurs were eliminated from the playoffs after the first round.

1000th NBA contest

Tim became the Spurs’ all-time leading point scorer after eleven games in the 2010–11 season, and the majority of games were played.

A few days later, he faced the Portland Trail Blazers in his 1000th NBA game. At that point, his win-loss record was 703-293.

2012 Contract Renewal

In July 2012, Duncan and the Spurs agreed to an extension of his contract. Duncan has named to the All-Star and All-NBA First Teams again in 2012–13 thanks to the team’s 58–24 record. They were unable to repeat as champions this year, though.

Three decades’ worth of championships

In the 2013–2014 campaign, the Spurs had their heyday once more. They finished the year with 62 wins, the most in the league. They defeated the Miami Heat 4-1 in the NBA Finals, which is significant.

Duncan was now one of just two athletes to ever win the championship in all three distinct decades.

Late Career in the Game

Duncan completed his 1330th game in April 2015. In November, Duncan defeated the New York Knicks for his 954th win with one franchise, an NBA record.

He failed to score against the Houston Rockets for the first time in his career, snapping a streak of 1359 games during which he had at least one point.

After 19 seasons with the Spurs, Duncan announced his retirement from the NBA on July 11, 2016. His No. 21 jerseys were retired by the team.
