Due to edema in her right arm, which causes the skin to feel tight and affected joints to be difficult to move, Minella was forced to withdraw from competitions in Paris, Rio de Janeiro, Acapulco, and Fed Cup in 2014. She was forced to take a few weeks off.

She participated in the ITF Circuit after recovering, making it to the semifinals of the $25k Stuttgart tournament, the quarterfinals of the Lorraine Open 88, and the semifinals of the Open GDF Suez de Biarritz.

Mandy later earned a spot in the Coupe Banque Nationale by competing in the Red Rock Pro Open quarterfinals and the International Femenil Monterrey doubles final.

2016-2017

Minella struggled to get off to a good start in 2016, losing in the opening round in Launceston, Melbourne, and Auckland.

Thankfully, she defeated Naomi Osaka at the Taiwan Open to win the WTA main-draw match.

She had no luck, though, in her subsequent contests, falling in the opening or second round of her last four events, which comprised ITF and WTA matches.

With the exception of the Fed Cup, she also failed to win back-to-back singles matches throughout the entire year.

At Bol Open, she changed her year, winning her first WTA singles title and gaining more victories over the top 100 players.

She won in straight sets over Sara Sorribes Tormo at the Gstaad Ladies Championship.

She also qualified for three tournaments, including the US Open, and won four singles titles on the ITF Circuit during the same season.

Retirement

Due to her increased tenacity and physical fitness, Minella is prepared to conquer tennis in 2021. However, she did want to retire by the end of 2020.

Due to the coronavirus outbreak, she was only able to say goodbye publicly and through a very limited number of games. She consequently decided to carry on competing.
