Ben Affleck blames himself for his past drinking addiction. After facing a backlash about blaming his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner, he tries clearing his mess in an interview with the Hollywood reporter. Similarly, Ben explains what his intention was when he mentioned Jennifer’s name in an Interview with Howard Stern in December 2021.

Likewise, his past drinking habit caused many issues in his life. While talking with Howard, Ben stated that his drinking addiction started after marrying Garner. He said he was trapped in his marriage.

At the time, Ben Affleck stated that the best decision of his life was getting a divorce from Jennifer Garner. He said,

“We’d probably be at each other’s throats and I’d still be drinking. Part of why I started drinking alcohol was because I felt trapped”

Furthermore, he also added,

“We had a marriage that didn’t work. This happens. It was somebody I love and respect but to whom I shouldn’t be married any longer … what I did was [I] drank a bottle of scotch and fell asleep on the couch, which turned out not to be the solution”

The above statement caused controversy and Ben had to face backlash due to this matter. He had to clarify what was his intention for saying this statement. On Thursday, Affleck cleared what was his main motto for saying this. Likewise, he took the responsibility for drinking as his own and added,

“To be clear, my behavior is my responsibility entirely. The point that I was trying to make was a sad one”

On the other hand, Ben Affleck also talked about his divorce from Jennifer and shared how painful it was when they decided to split. He clears that even though there is love, care, and affection towards each other, sometimes we have to separate for our good. According to Ben,

“Anyone who’s been through divorce makes that calculus of, How much do we try? We loved each other. We care about each other. We have respect for each other.”

In addition to that, Affleck stated,

“I was trying to say: ‘Hey, look, I was drinking too much, and the less happy you become, whether it’s your job, your marriage, it’s just that as your life becomes more difficult, if you’re doing things to fill a hole that aren’t healthy, you’re going to start doing more of those things”

“We talked a lot about my family, you know, alcoholism, struggling with real things, how you have to be accountable and loving, how I work with my ex-wife, how I’m so proud of the way we work together for our kids, the best that we can for them”

Besides Ben Affleck also told everyone that his ex-wife has to do nothing with his drinking issues in the past. He later confirms that Jenner Garner was his biggest supporter and they always respect each other no matter what. When he was asked why he is not using social media, he replied “when you say one wrong thing, your career might be over, so this platform is landmines for me”.

After seeing the post where his statement was mischaracterized, Ben was kind of shocked. When he opened Twitter, a thing popped up that he didn’t mean broke his heart. He stated,

The former Mrs. Affleck, Jennifer Garner was pleased to shop at Sam’s club while on the other side her ex-husband married Jennifer Lopez twice! The store is located in South Charleston and she was present there at around 4 pm on Saturday.
