Personal Life & Parents

Ryan Murphy was born on July 2, 1995, in Chicago, Illinois, his birthplace. He is said to be living in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.

Meanwhile, Ryan attended the Bolles School and went on to complete his study in Business Administration at the University of California (UC), Berkeley.

Career

Murphy swam like a shark from the time he was a child. Sergio Lopex tutored him there. During his high school career, he set 26 national age-group records.

Back then, the swimmer was interested in particular meter events as well as backstroke. In fact, he still holds eight records that include various timed yard backstrokes.

Murphy has already added numerous records to his career despite just being a freshman in college. He was nominated to the US National Junior Team for the 200-meter backstroke in 2011.

Murphy finished third in such a tournament in Lima, Peru. As a result, he finished first in the 800-meter freestyle relay at 7:27.40. Similarly, in the Pan-American Games, she finished third in the 200-meter backstroke.

Similarly, by finishing third again, he qualified for a position on the US Olympic squad in 2012.

Murphy was named Pac-12 Newcomer of the Year after his debut season. However, as a member, he was already an NCAA champion.

In addition, he competed in the 2013 US Open Championships, winning silver in the 100-meter backstroke and gold in the 200-meter backstroke.

In addition, he won silver in both the 100 and 200-meter backstroke events at the 2014 US Nationals.

2016 Olympic Trials

Murphy broke his backstroke marks by lowering himself second by second. Murphy was leading the field in 2016, touching the wall three seconds before.

Moreover, he was selected co-swimmer with his senior group colleagues, which included Bolles Swimming graduates. And also Joseph Schooling.

Murphy also qualified for the 2016 US Olympic Trials with a gold medal in the 100-meter backstroke. He started off around halfway behind David Plummer.

However, he arrived at the wall 0.02 seconds before him. Murphy then made up for the 200-meter dash.

Championships

Murphy proceeded to win silver and bronze medals after returning to the NCAA Championships for four years in a row. Similarly, he competed in freestyle relays of 200-800 yards.

Despite this, Ryan Murphy has begun his professional career in 2017. Similarly, this occurred on the eve of the 2017 Philips 66 US Summer Nationals. There, he was signed by swimwear behemoth Speedo USA.

In actuality, he qualified for the World Championships by winning the gold medal in the 200-meter backstroke in trials. He won silver in both the 50-meter and 100-meter backstrokes.

She started her swimming as a member of the Stanford University swimming team. She impressed everyone by ranking among the world’s best swimmers during her stay at university. While she was at Stanford, she was a member of four NCAA championship teams, considered to be the most dominant team in NCAA history.

Furthermore, at the 8th world Championship held in Hungary in August 1996, she competed as a member of the USA finswimming Team. Unfortunately, Thompson had a poor performance at the Olympic Trials. She couldn’t qualify for her individual events.

Jenny’s Olympic Dominance:

1992 Olympics: Being at the prime of her career Thompson was expected to win 5 golds at the 1992 Olympics. However, she failed to qualify for the final in the 200-meter freestyle, got a dishearting result-fifth in the 50-meter, and got the second position in the 100-meter, she lost by a small margin to China’s Zhuang Yong.

Still, Thompsom managed to win two gold medals as a part of the 4×100-meter freestyle and 4×100-meter medley teams. Later a controversy was raised loose doping policy after the 100-meter freestyle where nine members of Chinese members tested positive for steroid use.

1996 Olympics: Thompson won three Gold medals on three relay teams; the 4*100-meter freestyle, 4*100-meter medley, and 4*200-meter freestyle.

After from Olympics between 1997 and 1999. Thompson won eight more world championship titles, including 3 streaks in the 100-meter freestyle.

2000 Olympics: In the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia she helped the USA to set a new world record in 4*100-meter freestyle. She won a bronze in the 100-meter freestyle and got fifth in the 100-meter butterfly.

Meanwhile, in the relay events, she swam the anchor leg where she helped the USA defend its titles in the 4*100-meter freestyle and the 4*200-meter freestyle relays. She also won butterfly leg 4*100 relays.

2004 Olympics: 2004, Athens, Greece, was the Thompsons’ last Olympic tournament. At the age of  31, she was the oldest member of U.S. swimming teams.

She was the anchor member of the freestyle relay, where she set the national record at 3:36:39 and won a silver medal. She secured one more silver medal taking part in the 400-meter medely relay.
