Jenny Thompson is also known as Jennifer Beth Thompson. She is an American former professional swimmer and Anesthesiologist.

Additionally, Jenny holds the record for most Olympic gold medals won by an American woman.

On February 26, 1973, Jenny Thompson was born to her parents Philip B.Thompson and Margrid J. Thompson. Her birth place is Danvers, Massachusetts, United States.

Jenny Thompson has three older brothers making her the youngest member of her family.

Jenny Thompson got married to an American Businessman Daniel Richard Cumpeli. She has two cute little sons Benji and Ryder.

She started her swimming career by training her youth at a swim club in Dover, N.H.,  She became a successful collegiate swimmer at Stanford University. This was just a little to her milestone career.

Moreover, she was ranked first in the 100-yard freestyle at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) championships each year from 1992 through 1995, she became only the fourth woman in NCAA history to win the same event four times.

Jenny Thompson’s University Career:

She started her swimming as a member of the Stanford University swimming team. She impressed everyone by ranking among the world’s best swimmers during her stay at university. While she was at Stanford, she was a member of four NCAA championship teams, considered to be the most dominant team in NCAA history.

Furthermore, at the 8th world Championship held in Hungary in August 1996, she competed as a member of the USA finswimming Team. Unfortunately, Thompson had a poor performance at the Olympic Trials. She couldn’t qualify for her individual events.

1992 Olympics: Being at the prime of her career Thompson was expected to win 5 golds at the 1992 Olympics. However, she failed to qualify for the final in the 200-meter freestyle, got a dishearting result-fifth in the 50-meter, and got the second position in the 100-meter, she lost by a small margin to China’s Zhuang Yong.

Still, Thompsom managed to win two gold medals as a part of the 4×100-meter freestyle and 4×100-meter medley teams. Later a controversy was raised loose doping policy after the 100-meter freestyle where nine members of Chinese members tested positive for steroid use.

1996 Olympics: Thompson won three Gold medals on three relay teams; the 4*100-meter freestyle, 4*100-meter medley, and 4*200-meter freestyle.

After from Olympics between 1997 and 1999. Thompson won eight more world championship titles, including 3 streaks in the 100-meter freestyle.

2000 Olympics: In the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia she helped the USA to set a new world record in 4*100-meter freestyle. She won a bronze in the 100-meter freestyle and got fifth in the 100-meter butterfly.

Meanwhile, in the relay events, she swam the anchor leg where she helped the USA defend its titles in the 4*100-meter freestyle and the 4*200-meter freestyle relays. She also won butterfly leg 4*100 relays.

2004 Olympics: 2004, Athens, Greece, was the Thompsons’ last Olympic tournament. At the age of  31, she was the oldest member of U.S. swimming teams.

She was the anchor member of the freestyle relay, where she set the national record at 3:36:39 and won a silver medal. She secured one more silver medal taking part in the 400-meter medely relay.

Recent work and life:

in 2006. She did her internship at New work city Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, and her residency anesthesiologist at the Bringham.

She is a bold and courageous woman. In 2010, two men tried to steal her scooter. However, she fought both of the of attackers and won.

In September 2010 she got married to, an American businessman, Daniel Richard Cumpelik. She has two cute little sons Benji and Ryder.

She currently works as an anesthesiologist for the Spectrum medical group at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine.
