Taison’s Career: Internacional, Metalist Kharkiv, Shakhtar Donetsk

Taison started his football career at the age of 16 with the Brazilian club Internacional. For his eye-catching performances on a consistent basis at the club, he quickly rose to fame and quickly established himself as one of the top rising stars in the footballing world after scoring 15 goals in Campeonato Gaucho.

After playing for three years at the Brazilian club, Taison made his move to Europe to Ukrainian club Metalist Kharkiv where he signed a contract for the approximate fee of  $8,107,470. In total, he scored 13 goals in 57 games for the Ukranian club which caught the eyes of Ukranian giants, Shakhtar Donetsk.

In the January window of 2013, he transferred to Shakhtar for a fee of $16,752,908.40 and made his debut for the club in a 2-2 draw against German giants Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League.

His association with the club has earned him a lot of praise and reputation. He became the Man of the Match after he scored a goal for the club in a 3-3 draw with Metalurh Zaporizhya on 19 May 2013. As of December 2019, Tyson has made over 250 appearances for the Ukrainian club scoring around 48 goals.

Taison had revealed that he would consider accepting a call-up for Ukraine if asked. But, on 22 August 2016 newly appointed Brazil manager Tite called him up for the Brazil national football team.

On 13th June 2017, he scored his first and so far, his only international goal in a friendly match against Australia, which ended 4-0.

In May 2018, Tyson was named in Tite’s final 23 man squad for the 2018 World Cup. So far, he has eight caps for his country.

Taison Racially abused, Leaves the field in tears, Handed one-game ban In November 2019, Tyson was racially abused while playing for Shakhtar by Dynamo Kyiv fans. In the 74th minute of the home side’s 1-0 win, the Brazilian winger showed his middle finger at the section of Dynamo supporters and also kicked the ball in their direction. The winger’s teammate Dentinho reported the racist abuse to the match referee, who subsequently activated the step-one and two of UEFA’s protocol by ordering a stadium announcement and then taking all the players in the field into the changing room. Taison and Dentinho both left the ground in heartbreaking tears. When the players reemerged, the referee showed Taison a red card. Step three of UEFA’s protocol which is abandoning the match was not activated. After the match, the Brazilian wrote on Instagram, “I love my race, I fight for color, whatever I do is for us, for love. I will never shut up in the face of such an inhuman and despicable act. My tears were of indignation, repudiation, and helplessness, helplessness that I could do nothing at that moment!” He has also decided to leave the Ukrainian league.
