A few months later in May 2014, Joey was diagnosed with cervical cancer. She underwent surgery for it and was declared cancer-free. She was advised against chemotherapy or radiation since her cancer had clear margins and was completely removed by surgery.
A little over a year later in June 2015, Joey fell ill. It was found that cervical cancer had made a comeback and also spread to the colon. She had another surgery and had intense sessions of chemotherapy and radiation. But by October 2015 it was found that she had terminal cancer and since nothing was working it was better left alone.
