Who is David Begnaud?
David Begnaud is an American CBS reporter who joined the news network in 2014. He has been reporting on four hurricanes back to back in the last month or so. He has been noticed and appreciated for his on-the-ground in-depth reporting. He said:
“I’ve never done four hurricanes back to back. You know, Harvey is memorable for people’s ability to rush in to help – the overwhelming response. And, what I’ve come to learn, is that civilians can meet the efforts of the federal government and, more often than not, do better. What made Irma so memorable was how it hopscotched. We couldn’t keep up with where it was going. But Maria has surpassed anything I’ve reported on before in terms of devastation.”

He was continuously for 34 days on the road reporting on Hurricane Harvey in Texas, Hurricane Irma in Florida, and Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico. It was the natural disaster that paralyzed Puerto Rico that also brought in great changes in David Begnaud.
While reporting Hurricane Maria, the only functioning wi-fi signal was that of CBS News. Hence everyone was dependent on CBS for the updates on the disaster and they have seen David in the flooded streets, reporting about the disaster and the food and water shortage in the location. He saw power failures and generators being run by doctors in hospitals.
He saw a lot of illness and also did as much as he could to assist the locals and relieve their pain. He also tried to give the true picture and topple any rumors or myths associated with the hurricane.

He received a lot of praise from all over for his excellent and genuine reporting and his Facebook subscribers jumped from 10000 to 315000 in less than a month. He was termed a lifeline by the people. He said:
“That experience has humbled me.”
