A former professional basketball player from the Dominican Republic named Alfredo William “Tito” Horford was chosen by the Milwaukee Bucks in the second round of the 1988 NBA draft.

 Early Life, Family & Education

Al’s father, Tito Horford, was a Bahamian immigrant who was born in La Romana, Dominican Republic, on January 19, 1966.

The details of his family are unknown. Kelly Horford, his lone sister, is reported to have played basketball at Florida Atlantic University from 1992 to 1996. Tito went to Marian Christian High School in Houston, Texas.

He was brought to a high school in the Dominican Republic.

After graduating from high school, he applied to the University of Houston but was turned down. He has kicked off the team once more after enrolling at Louisiana State University.

He was chosen to play college basketball at the University of Miami in Florida by the Miami Hurricanes men’s basketball team.

When his NBA career came to an end, he traveled to many countries to play basketball, including Italy, France, and Spain.

He also played in semi-pro leagues and for the Dominican national team in a manner similar to this.

Personal Life & Marriage

As previously reported, Tito continued to play basketball even after leaving the NBA. But after hanging up his basketball shoes, he made his home in Lansing, Michigan.

Before divorcing in 1989, Tito was wed to American journalist Arelis Reynoso.

Two kids were born to the couple. Al Horford, his oldest child, was born on June 3rd, 1986. On the same day, on October 16, 1991, their youngest son, Jonathon Kelly Horford, was born.

The Michigan Wolverines were Jon’s team for four years of his professional basketball career. Prior to joining the Florida Gators for the 2014–15 season, he played his final season with the 2013–14 squad.

Jon is a Democrat running for the Michigan House of Representatives in 2022.

After graduating from high school, he received an athletic scholarship to attend the University of Florida, where he played college basketball for the Florida Gators men’s basketball team.

He played for the Hawks for nine seasons before signing a free-agent contract with the Boston Celtics in 2016.

He played for the Celtics for three seasons before joining the Philadelphia 76ers as a free agent in 2019.

In the 2020 offseason, Al was transferred to Thunder. Al was finally relocated once more to the Celtics before the 2021 season when he eventually reached the NBA Finals.

Al has since 2008 played both for the NBA and the Dominican basketball team. 2011’s FIBA Americas Championship saw him win a bronze medal, in fact.
