His career started from his college days for WKKD-AM & FM. Then, at the age of 18, Tom moved to WKKD-AM & FM in Aurora, Illinois. On August 13, 1978, he joined WGN-TV.
Currently, he is the chief meteorologist of WGN-TV. Also, he is the writer of the daily weather column in the Chicago Tribune. Moreover, he used to WKOW-TV and WTSO AM and then worked as a meteorologist at WITI in Milwaukee, Wisconsin from 1975-1978.
Additionally, Tom’s first television job was at age 18 in Aurora, IL, at WLXT-Channel 60. Then he came WKOW-TV (ABC affiliate) and WTSO radio in Madison, WI before going to work for WITI-TV, Milwaukee from 1975-1978, where he was rated the city’s #1 meteorologist.
In fact, he is also a member of the American Meteorological Society and National Weather Association. Besides that, the veteran meteorologist has also hosted annual tornado and severe weather seminars at the Fermi National Accelerator Lab.
