The winner of Ultimate Fighter 17 Kelvin Gastelum one morning finds out that Mike Perry left a comment on his Facebook saying Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza will strangle him out on his next match. Outraged but controlling his anger the champ sends a friend request to Mike on Facebook. What he didn’t know was that the random message was a troll and later finds Mike criticizing him on Twitter over the request he sent on Facebook. Only then he realizes that he got carried away over a troll. Fortunately, the episode ended without blood and broken bones.

Kelvin Gastelum is a mixed martial arts fighter currently signed to the UFC. He won the Ultimate Fighter 17 finals against Uriah Hall via split decision and became the youngest player to achieve the title in the history of the show at just the age of 21.

Career History

Born to fight, Gastelum was state champion of Arizona while at the Cibola High School in San Jose, California. His first professional fight was against Jose Sanchez on December 11, 2010, in  Mexico. He won the fight via submission in the second round. Before joining the UFC he fought 5 matches and loosed none. He won the two fights via TKO and the other three via submission.

In 2013, Gastelum was selected for the Team Sonnen of The Ultimate Fighter after he defeated Kito Andrews by decision. His next opponent was Bubba McDaniel and won him with rear neck choke submission in the second round. In the quarterfinals, he faced Collin Hart and won an easy knockout in the first round. Next was Josh Samman in the semifinals whom too he defeated with the rear neck submission in the first round. In the finals, he faced Uriah Hall. He won the fight through spit decision thus making him the winner of The Ultimate Fighter 17 in 2013.

From 2013-2016 he played at the UFC for the welterweight division. And henceforth in the middleweight division. So far he has played 18 matches losing only three of them. He won six matches by knockout, four by submission and five by decision. While he lost a match by submission and two by decisions. He lost his match against Chris Weidman, Neil Magny, and Tyron Woodley. Kelvin quickly recovered his loss through submission to former champion Chris Weidman by winning as easy knockout against another former titleholder Michael Bisping in the first round!!

Who would have guessed the ferocious lion on the ring is entirely a love-driven romantic in real life? That’s exactly the case with Kelvin.
