Veronica de la Cruz was on a vacation in Thailand this March when she got bitten by a tropical fish. She was snorkeling with her family when an exotic tropical fish decided to bite her on her leg. Veronica narrated her bad experience thus:
“We were snorkeling and I was floating above a bunch of tropical fish. I noticed one in particular—a black one with different rainbow colors—eight to 12 inches long, seemed particularly agitated. She kept swimming past us back and forth until finally she backed up as far as she could and charged for me,”
The anchor revealed that although the fish bite led to a skin breach, it was okay since the fish was not poisonous. Even on her return from Thailand, she could not resume work due to this bite and the problems associated with it.
Again in May 2018, Veronica had an accident and suffered a post-concussion syndrome. She tweeted on it:

Veronica de la Cruz was born on 13 August 1980 in Northern California. She is aged 38 now and though she was born in the Central Valley and spent her early years of life in Half Moon Bay, her family later shifted to Southern California. She was a competitive figure skater. Her mother brother Eric died early in life due to heart disease. Her father had divorced her mother and had three different families and a total of 7 children.
She moved to Los Angeles for her college and later moved to journalism as a career. She has an American nationality and her ethnicity is mixed. She is half Filipino-Chinese and half French-German Jewish. She is multi-lingual.

Veronica de la Cruz started as a music journalist and worked with dot.com where she used to travel around the world interviewing DJs and music artists. Her next career move was to Yuma, Arizona where she was an anchor and reporter for NBC affiliate. This was followed by joining CNN where she assisted in the launch of the first streaming news service called CNN Pipeline. Later she became an anchor and correspondent with CNN. She was one of the first journalists to use Twitter online and also to employ the magic wall (wall monitor) for better transfer of information to the viewers.

She covered several natural disaster reports and was awarded accolades for it. Recalling those days, Veronica once said:
“Katrina victims were calling the newsroom to tell us the water was up to their neck and to please get them help, those moment will haunt me forever.”
After 6 years at CNN, she joined NBC News and MSNBC where she began to host “First Look” and NBC’s “Early Today Show”. In 2014, she joined KPIX as an evening anchor and she has always tried to keep herself abreast with the latest technology.
