Professional Career, University
Diggs’s career in football started at his University. He attended the University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland, where he played on the Terrapins football team from 2012-2014. Due to his outstanding performance, he was selected second-team All-ACC return specialist in 2012 and finished second for ACC Rookie of the Year. And in 2014, he was second-team All-Big Ten.
After his junior season, he entered the 2015 NFL Draft for his senior season. His record was a 40-yard dash in 4.46 seconds and also the 20-yard shuttle in 4.11 seconds. Due to his performance, he was selected in the 5th round, 146th overall by the Minnesota Vikings with a four-year contract of $2.5 million.
He made his debut match in the fourth week against the Denver Broncos. In week 6, he became the first Vikings’ receiver since Week 14 in the previous season to record a 100-yard game. He then officially earned the starting wide receiver role.
He became the second Vikings rookie to record consecutive 100-yard games and was also ranked second among all NFL players in their first four career games. Diggs was listed in the Pro Football Writers of America’s (PFWA) 2015 NFL All-Rookie team on January 19, 2016.
He became only the third receiver in team history to have back-to-back 100-plus-yard games in the first two games of the season. He along with Adam Thielen became the first pair of Vikings wide receivers with 900 yards each. His 75% catch rate ranked him fifth among NFL wide receivers in 2016.
In his 2018 season, he was ranked 65th on the NFL Top 100 Players. He then signed a five-year contract extension of $72 million with the Vikings through the 2023 season.
